offspringJack Ketchum’s Offspring

They’re Baack…!
This is the second piece to Ketchum’s Off Season. It’s been eleven years (in book time) since the cannibalistic savages have created a blood bath massacre of a group of people. They survived and then multiplied and having learned from their previous attack, they’re now much more blood hungry and skilled.
Only this time there are babies involved. The leader of the pack, known as the Woman, is bound and determined to win this time and in the process to seek out people with a baby so she that she can add the bundle of joy to her pack of wolves.
This was, to no surprise, another gripping and hard-to-put-down read…that i had no trouble getting through even if it meant sacrificing my sleep in time to read more. Ahhh!mazing!

Excerpts:
Pg. 27- ‘She was standing in the grass and goldenrod…her hair was dark and long, very long…holding a flower and turning it in her hands. A red one…Our very own wood sprite out here in the yard. ‘

Pg. 71- ‘This was fun. This was scary. ‘

Pg. 101- ‘I’m coming…It’s payback day. ‘

Pg. 119- ‘Her family had been like the seaweed at low tide-the point of breaking. Then the sea rose up again, filling them, turning them green and supple and alive. The sea was blood. ‘

Pg. 205- ‘The pull was so strong he shook in the wake of it. He was terrified…a raw panic clogged his throat and he had to do something now, something fast. ‘

pandoradrive Tim Waggoner’s Pandora Drive

Typhoid Mary Syndrome…A gift or a curse??? You decide. Imagine being able to make the dreams, thoughts, and wildest fantasies of those around you come to life. Cool right? Well it depends if that person or persons includes your lecherous neighbor and revengeful wife, lonely mother, and curious brother are at your powers mercy…
Body parts are severed, others grow to enormous lengths, spontaneous household tools grow from bodily parts, rotten sludge uproots a house, and death sprouts to life. Why not read this???!!!
The carnage, originality, creepy character, and drive to make you turn pages faster and faster, is all part of the beauty of Waggoner’s writing that lures you in despite the ‘roller coaster’ ride your stomach is lulled onto.
I must say I was at the writers mercy as to what would come around with each page I turned and did not see the end coming either. *gulp*

Excerpts:
Pg. 32- ‘As he ran, he caught a glimpse of the sampler she had made….and once more he read the words “Miracles Happen.” … I guess sometimes they do, he thought. ‘

Pg. 49- ‘It was another thing entirely for him to do it while standing a few feet away from the woman he stared at-and while playing pocket pool, no less! ‘

Pg. 78- ‘He wanted to be a video game designer someday, but his dad told him that fantasizing about stuff like that was nothing but mental jacking off: It might feel good at the time, but in the long run, it wouldn’t get you anywhere. ‘

Pg. 135- ‘The man screamed as his abdomen exploded in a shower of blood and loops of intestine. As he fell to the floor a narrow piece of inflamed meat plapped on the blood-smeared tile and wriggled away from its previous home…leaving a crimson trail like some manner of demonic snail. ‘

Pg. 296- ‘…she replied in a cheery voice as two streams of crimson ran down from her empty sockets like tears of blood. ‘
