Over the past year, Kara has been trying to sort out her life as a summoner and a cop with the Beaulac PD. During that year, she’s found out that some of her fellow co-workers are more than meets the eye when it comes to demonic lords, demons and arcane powers…

Just when you think her life couldn’t get anymore complicated, people start dieing in wierd ways. It turns out too that the people dieing are all linked to her by way of her past and all these people have had a hand in causing her past harm. Does she have a motive and/or link in their deaths?

That’s what the mayor believes…and since he has authority over Kara’s sargent, what he says goes…sort of.

What a tangles mess to sort out!

Excerpts:
Pg. 60-’Super. My demon had a cat because my life wasn’t strange enough already.’

Pg. 95-’Living with Eilahn was like a verbal chess match sometimes.’

Pg. 183-’Great, even in my dreams I needed to be in better shape.’

Miles had the perfect life and family…all until one evening when an arguement over something completely ridiculous broke out. A fight that would forever be regretted and drawn upon because this was the night his wife left this Earth as his wife and as a mother.
Miles, and his son, Jonah try to move on and remake their lives as a family of two, but Miles finds this most difficult to deal with.
One day, Miles is asked to have an urgent parent-teacher meeting, which he believed to be more than he could handle, but proved to be a life-changing beginning for both him and his son, because this was the day he met Sarah.
Miles’ life started to run smoothly again until he got a less-than-credible tip to who killed his wife on that allegid evening.
All the life and time he had repaired and created was tumbling all around him. In an attempt to solve the mystery, would Miles be able to grab ahold of the life he has left and be able to piece it back together?

Excerpts:
Pg. 8-’He’d caught a trace of the perfume that Missy used to wear and he’d held on to the ache like a drowning man grasping a life preserver until long after the service was over.’

Pg. 28-’…the martyr tone. He couldn’t stand that.’

Pg. 88-’He hoped and prayed that a bolt of lightening would suddenly shoot from the heavens and kill him on the spot.’

Pg. 205-’I covered her up, as if covering my own sin.’

Pg. 206-’…I felt myself sink inward, as if drowning in my own private ocean.’

Pg. 285-’I'd become a professional voyer.’

Kara Gilland is ready for another case, now that she has six months of arcane experience under her belt and the label of supernatural and paranormal crimes unit. Her partners, Ryan and Zack are by her side, in more ways that she expected. They set out on strange type of case that it somewhat an undercover one…They’re decked out in Goth attire to watch out at a concert for a band. Supposedly someone is out for the group, but mostly the lead singer, Lida. But as usual, there’s more the story than meets the eye. A.N.D…the motives and fame almost manage to eat them all alive or full long off a cliff or down some stairs, or out a window…
Kara is put to the test in the arcane sense and at the same time has to deal with worldly matters all at once. Can she manage to comply with her new duties to serve Demon Lord Rhyzhahl, retain her friendship, protect the band members, and solve a crime of murders before she herself is done in?
Excerpts:
Pg. 44-‘The demonic lords never do anything without motive.’

Pg. 68-‘Oh no, I did not just hit a demonic lord…’

Pg. 77-’I feel the weight of his anger like a thick cloud.’

Pg. 199-‘…Your weirdness is kind of entertaining.’

Pg . 240-‘I grinned and resisted the urge to slide across the hood in another movie move…’

Pg. 264-‘She had the muscle tone of one of the Cardio Barbies who haunted my gym.

The Linton family moved to New Hampshire to give dad, Chip, relief from his nightmare of a life in Pennsylvania after he was the pilot of the flight 1611 crash that killed 39 people. His wife,Emily, and daughters, Hallie and Garnet, move from their Home Sweet Home to help him get away from the whispers, pointed fingers and to bury the bad memories.
However, when they move to the New Hampshire Victorian home, all the residents already know his story and the house is haunted with the some of the spirits of the passengers involved in the crash…
At the center of their new life are the Herbalists. Reseda, Anise and Clary are rumored to have magical potions that they create with the herbs they grow in their mysterious greenhouses. The tinctures they create for what ails the people of the town are a mouthful and dangerous if created in the wrong combination.
Things in this new place are but a bunch of hazy puzzle pieces that might be discovered after the damage has already soaked in. And what is the true purpose of the the crowbar, the ivory-handles knife, and the ax that were hidden in the home…

Excerpts:
Pg. 9-’He smiles; somehow, he smiles.’

Pg. 97-’His hands were buried in his lap, and his had and shoulders had gone limp like wilting flowers.’

Pg. 198-’He hunched his shoulders and nodded, as if making his body a little smaller would make him a little quieter.’

Pg. 238-’…You cannot help but wonder what herbs would poison an ant-and what those herbs might do to a human.’

Erica Spindler’s Copy Cat

Kitt was a crime solver and killer punisher, that was up until five years ago when the SAK (Serial Angel Killer) struck and left little girls dead in their own beds while their parents slept peacefully. Trying to find justice for these little girls while in the midst of her daughter Sadie dying, she lost it.
Now she’s back and ready to put her weaknesses behind her and is out to see the SAK is brought down and with the help of her partner Mary Cathrine aka: M.C.
The two of them butt heads most of the time, yet somehow relate through their own tragedies. Will they find the SAK, the Copycat and be able to bring the killer to justice no matter what heartstrings may be attached or dangling? Can Kitt learn to separate her head from her heart…

Having already built up a distrust and fear of clowns, this book more so solidifies it and increases that fear and great dislike…

Excerpts:
Pg. 189-’She lost it. She felt something snap inside. A bitter-tasting fury spewed out.’

Pg. 268-’He had a serious case of Peter Pan syndrome.’

Pg. 284-’Big and good-looking with the kind of swagger that screamed, “I’m all that.” Female catnip.’

Pg. 308-’Even as she said the words, the ugliness seeped in, licking at the edges of her happiness.’

Pg. 326-’God gave women ‘intuition’ to make up for childbirth. …intuition so doesn’t cover it.’

Willow is a newbie in the Hallows because here mom, Bethany thought it would be a safer place for her than New York City…well, she “hates the Hollows”. She has only one friend, and not a very good one.
Jones is a retired cop in the Hollows, who is having marital problems, life problems, has a shrink and is ready to give up on life.
Henry Ivy has lost his running partner, great friend and secret love–because she ran away from her husband and family life? No one really knows where she went, except Caroline (the nosey neighbor who knows all the neighborhood’s dirty secrets) but she’s not talking…
As for Kieth and Paula, they’re life isn’t much better. Keith has a secret life and despises his wife and children. Paula is at her wits end, this is before she discovers who her husband really is and what he really does, she just needs courage and whit to carry out her plan and to be happy.
It all boils down to the Holt family. Marla wasn’t happy with her marriage and life, which led her to find solace in Henry Ivy, however when her son, Michael Holt finds his mother being consoled by her ‘running partner and friend’ he goes bezerk. Marla’s husband also loses it and suddenly Marla is missing with no clues as to where she has gone to.
Eloise, the town psychic-by accidental circumstances, may be the only key to the mystery and to stiching all the messes together in the Hollows.

Logan Thibault, U.S. Marine from Colorado decides he must find the women in a photo, his good luck charm, that he’s held with him for five years, and travel to on foot to Hampton, North Carolina in pursuit to find her.
Oddly enough, every man she dates seems to steer clear of her after their fist date, leaving her bewildered and lonely.
Logan discovers a ‘help wanted’ sign in a window of a dog training facility and applies…low and behold this is where his mystery lady also lives. As he works and gets to know the lady in his photo, he begins to realize things about himself, her and life that he has been seeking and that his friend, Victor, has urged him to learn for so many years.

What a wonderful story of love, patience, suspense and discovery. Sparks knows how to carry his reader through a magical sort of story and to wrap it all up with a bow!

Excerpts:
Pg. 12-’…He looked the way Zeus did when he was waiting for a piece of beef jerky. A little too excited about the whole thing.’

Pg. 32-’”They don’t want you alone with the hubbies because you’re as pretty as a tickled pumpkin.”‘

Pg. 78-’You’re as skinny as a golf club.’

Pg. 88-’Proximity bred familiarity, and familiarity bred comfort.’

Pg. 134-’The thought, when it struck her, felt at once surprising and natural.’

Pg. 180-’It was easy to idealize someone you barely knew.’

Pg. 182-’She looked both familiar and tantalizingly foreign.’

Pg. 243-’”Cleaning to me is like being naked to a monkey.”‘

Pg. 256-’…you’re certain that no matter what happens, there will never be another one like him.’

Pg. 283-’Her eyes bored into him, piercing him with hte force of her rage.’
